Compress PDF FAQ

How can I reduce the size of a PDF?

Upload your PDF, pick a compression level and download the smaller file. Image-heavy and scanned PDFs usually shrink the most because their images are re-encoded at a lower size.

Why didn’t my PDF get much smaller?

PDFs that are mostly text are already compact, so there is little to remove. The biggest savings come from documents containing large photos or scans.

Does compressing a PDF reduce quality?

Stronger compression lowers image quality slightly to save space. Text is not affected. Choose a lighter level if you need sharper images.

Is it safe to use this tool with private PDF files?

Yes. Your PDF files are processed entirely in your web browser using JavaScript on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to FaaTools servers, so we never see, store or share your data — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.
